"You cannot say to the sun, "More sun." Or to the rain, "Less rain." To a man, geisha can only be half a wife. We are the wives of nightfall. And yet, to learn kindness after so much unkindness, to understand that a little girl with more courage than she knew, would find her prayers were answered, can that not be called happiness? After all these are not the memoirs of an empress, nor of a queen. These are memoirs of another kind."
I've never watched this movie before, not even a glimpse. I watched the theatre version in my campus, but only half of the show. Memoirs of a Geisha, directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago). It tells a story of a girl named Chiyo who is sold to a Geisha's house. After one meeting with a Chairman, she devoted herself to become a Geisha.
Most of the main actors played by Chinese actresses; and I think they are great. But actually, i got a unanswered question in mind; 'What about Chiyo's sister, Satsu? What happened to her?'
